12 March: It was proud moment for our College to receive the Hero Honda Cup for winning the District Cricket Tournament from the hands of Shri. Rajan Nair ,BCCI at the World Cup Match held at VCA stadium Jamta. Our College cricket team proudly took a victory lap around the stadium after receiving the winners’ cup to the applause of the specatators. |

RTM Nagpur University Exams Commenced at our centre from 22 March. |

As part of our Contact Programme with Kanchipura locality, we initiated two more programmes |
|
a. To train housewives at our Home Economics Department on tips on summer cooking and Nutrient values in common food items.
b. To help instil social and moral values in the children of Kanchipura through storytelling, a programme is envisaged. We have procured books to distribute to the children and the follow-up of interactive sessions with the children will be taken up during the vacation. |

Our Drama club ‘Shadows’ has done us all proud by winning the ‘Sakal Karandak’ at the district and state level competitions. In Nagpur division we won 1st prize for Best Actor,2nd for Direction, Music & Production and 1st for Stage settings ,Script, Set. At the state level competition held in December 2010, we won third prize in Production, Direction 1st, Best actor Consolation prize. This trophy was awarded at the All State Pune Competition for winning the Bronze overall Championship. |

Our Sanskrit dept went on an educational tour to Bangalore to attend ‘The World Sanskrit Book Fair & National Sanskrit Conference’. 11 students and Asst Professors Dr. Sarita Modak and Shri. Mangesh Pathak . It was an immensely successful academic activity. |

Our Cricket team has won 1.‘Cricmania’ trophy and a cash award of Rs.8000/Inter Collegiate tournament organized by VNIT .2. Intercollegiate Cricket Trophy sponsored by Bezanbagh Sports Club along with a cash prize of Rs.10,000/ and won the Runners –Up Trophy organized by Vidharbha Cricket association. We also won the Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament organized by the Hero Honda. |

Our Post Graduate-Ma-II(English) Merit student Mauli Chowdhury and the Secretary of our Students’ Representative Council Shri. Akshay Saraf represented our college at the First Parliament of students’ council leaders at Pune on 12-14 December 2010. |

From our Women’s Development Cell 45 projects have been submitted by the students to RTM Nagpur University. |

From our NCC Wing thirty cadets participated in the Pre-Republic day camp. Out of these thirty ten cadets were selected for the Inter Group Republic Day Camp. A special mention must be made of Cadet Ujjawal Mokadam who participated in the CAT One R.D. Camp held at Aurangabad (Maharashtra).Five cadets of our unit were selected to perform group dance at the NCC Day Celebration at Mumbai. |

Our college brought out a Golden Jubilee Souvenir volume and it was a matter of great honour to get it released at the hands of our former President Bharatratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam during his visit to take part in the celebrations of our Dharampeth Education Society. |

Seminar on Communication and Environment was organized by International School of Business and Media and R.S.M. Dharampeth College, Nagpur on 22nd November, 2010. 150 students participated in the programme. |

Different course were organized by English Department in collaboration with Chester on 27th , 29th and 30, November 2010. |
|
NSS camp was held at Yerla, a place about 18 kms from Nagpur between 21st November and 27th November 2010. 44 NSS volunteers participated in the camp. Street plays presented by the NSS volunteers on socially important issues were very much appreciated by the Yerla residents. ‘Samvidhan’ rally was also organized during the Camp. NSS students also conducted ‘Pani Adva and Pani Jirawa’ programme and prepared culverts at appropriate places and also interacted with the residents to acquaint themselves with the problems and issues of the residents. |

Late Shri Vinayak Phatak Smruti Din was observed on 9August.As part of the activities a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Dr. Hegdewar Blood bank was organized on the very same day. The NSS wing of our college elicited 50 donors including members from the teaching faculty and the Students. |

Dr. Ranganathan Birth Anniversary was celebrated on 10 August as Library Day. At a function arranged on the day, Dr.Prakash Jain, Librarian, VMV College was the Chief Guest at the function. |

b. The second programme was the Video-footage of one of Dr.Abdul Kalam’s Addresses to Youth- The second in the series of part the inter-departmental collaborative ‘Youth Awareness Programme’. The students were mesmerized by the sheer simplicity and power of persuasion of the address of our former President genuineness |

c. A new Inter-Faculty ‘ Blossoms-Quiz & Debate Club’ was inaugurated and 15 students each from Arts, Commerce & Professional courses took part in the highly vibrant quiz Competition .The winners were the Commerce Faculty , followed by the Professional Courses & Arts Faculty. |

September 14: ‘Hindi Diwas’ was observed in every classroom. Students were very enthusiastic and came up with their contributions in the form of ‘Shayaris’,’Haikus’, ‘Dohas’ & Jokes and as it was impossible to conduct a programme for everyone in Velankar Sabhagrugh, it was decided to observe Hindi Diwas in the respective classrooms. The Professors-in-Charge Ms.Alka Badge coordinated the programme, and the Hindi Officer of our College Dr.Subhash Toshniwal presented the report on ‘Hindi Diwas’. |

f. A workshop on ‘Motivation’ by HRD Trainer Mr. Kumar Zilpilwar was arranged by the Psychology Department immediately after the inauguration of the Psychology Study Circle. |

a. Economics Department conducted a programme on Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Birth Anniversary. Dr. Ravindra Joshi made the introductory remarks and highlighted the importance of the adage ‘ Har Haath ko Kaam, Har Khet Ko Paani’. |

b. The Economics Department Conducted a Community Extension Programme in Kaachipura area. 15 Groups, comprising of 4 students each took an interactive survey with dwellers of the slums. It was a very enlightening experience for the students and they gathered data regarding educational and socio-economical status of the people. The students will analyse the data and with the guidance of Teachers plan to contribute to the up-liftment of these people in their consequent visits. |
